Tibet is located in the low latitude, the warm sunlight covers the main winter seasons from November to March. In the daytime, the average temperature of many cities and towns in Tibet is around 10C-18C, about 3C-5C higher than that in Beijing. So it is not very cold and the air is purer with higher visibility.

Two: Less Crowded

The peak tourism seasons in Tibet is from May to early October. In the winter time, there will be less tourists offering a less noisy sightseeing to all main attractions. You could feel more free and leisure and won’t be worried about the possible unavailability of the entrance tickets for Potala Palace.

Three: Cost Saving

It is the cheapest time for travelling Tibet in the winter season. Starting from November, many hotels and travel agencies will work together to lower the prices to attract more tourists with no compromise to services.

Four: Not harder in altitude acclimatization

In the winter time, the vegetation is less and air is dryer so it could be harder for high altitude acclimatization. But if with good planning, this won’t be more difficult than the time in warmer seasons. You can enter Tibet by train or leave two or three days for altitude acclimatization there before travelling to other places.

And it is also a good idea to take some anti-mountain sickness medicines several days ahead of entering into Tibet according to the doctor’s advices.
