Travel to Tibet - Splendid Mt. Everest SceneryThis Himalayan tour to Mount Everest Base Camp is one of the most popular tours in Tibet. It includes the culture exploration in the middle Tibet area and the adventure tour to the Himalayan Mount Everest reserve. Although the journey after Shigatse could be hard due to the limited condition there, the awesome view makes it worthwhile and unforgettable. You can restore and enjoy the classic beauty of Tibet again when getting back to Lhasa to connect your tour to China or Nepal. This tour is available throughout the year and in winter seasons, there is usually a greater chance to view the Mount Everest summit clearly.

Itinerary (07nights/08days)

Day 01 Arrive in Lhasa

The Tibetan tour guide will meet you at the Lhasa Gonggar Airport and greet you with a white scarf (called Kada) in a Tibetan traditional way. Then transfer you to Lhasa City. On the way, you will see the big Nietang Buddha engraved in a mountain wall and upon arrival, just take rest for high altitude acclimatization.

Day 02 Sightsee in Lhasa

Our sightseeing in Lhasa will cover the most beautiful splendor in Tibet - Potala Palace, the spiritual center of Tibetan Buddhism - Jokhang Temple and the famous bustling Barkhor Street around the temple.
And at evening, pay a visit to a local Tibetan family.

Day 03 Lhasa-Gyantse-Shigatse

In the fresh morning air, we'll drive about 270km to the historic town of Gyantse crossing the Khamba La Pass (4800m) and the Karo La Pass (5010m). On the way, we'll take a pleasant walk at the beautiful Yamdrok Yumtso Lake and view the Karo La Glacier. Upon arrival in Gyantse, visit the Pelkhor Monastery and its superb Kumbu Stupa, a stunning architectrual wonder in Tibet.. Then we'll get forward to Shigatse, the second largest city in Tibet, strolling around the old town for the nicely decorated Tibetan houses and interesting local bazaar..

Day 04 Shigatse-Tingri (Shegar)

After breakfast, we'll visit the foremost attraction in Shigatse - Tashilumpo Monastery and the new palace of Panchen Lama there, and drive about 250km to Tingri via Gantsola Mountain Pass (5220m).

Day 05 Tingri-Mount Everest Base Camp

Tibet Himalayas TravelIt is about 100km from Tingri to the highest monastery in the world - Rongbuk Monastery and the Mount Everest Base Camp where you will have the life-long experience with this highest mountain in the world..You can hike the 8km from Rongbuk Monastery to the Everest Base Camp for about 2hrs.

Note: The accommodation at the Everest reserve is poor (dorm type without private bathroom / toilet, etc.) so if you wish, we can also drive back to Tingri (Shegar) on this day for better accommodation.

Day 06 Everest Base Camp-Shigatse

Drive about 350km back to Shigatse and relax..

Day 07 Shigatse-Lhasa

Drive to Lhasa along the northern route via Yarlung Tsangpu River (Brahmaputra). The rest time will be free for you to explore the old city.

Day 08 Leave

This day we'll transfer you to the Gonggar Airport and help you board the plane to your next destination. Your wonderful Everest tour ends.

Tips: The trip can be customized further to meet your requirements. For example, to make it shorter, we could complete it in 7 days as follows:
D01-03, the same as the above itinerary;
D04, Shigatse-Rongbuk Monastery;
D05, EBC-Shigatse, after enjoy the grand scenery of Mt. Everest at EBC, we'll get back to Shigatse;
D06, Shigatse-Lhasa;
D07, Leave
