Day 01 Lijiang-Zhongdian (ShangeriLa) (3300m/240km)
In the fresh morning air, we'll drive from Lijiang to Zhongdian. On the way, we'll visit the the First Bend of the Yangtze River, the deepest gorge in the world - Tiger Leaping Gorge and the Sangzanlin Temple, one of the famous monastery in Kham area and also the largest Tibetan Buddhism monastery in Yunnan Province. When arrival in Zhongdian, free at leisure to explore the old town.
Note: Our tour guide and driver will meet you at your hotel in Lijiang one day earlier.
Day 02 Zhongdian-Deqin-Feilaisi (3400m/260km)
Visit the Napa Lake Reserve, about 8km from ShangeriLa and then drive to Benzilan town, home to local craftworks for the 'Valley of Sun'. And after pass the Baima snow mountain, we'll get to Deqin and arrive at Feilaisi in the evening to enjoy the sunset of Mt. Meili.
Day 03 Feilai-Markham (3780m/200km)
Drive to Markham via Yanjing where there is still the old process of man-made salt. At Markham, we join the Sichuan-Tibet sourthern route to Tibet.
Day 04 Markham-Baso (3300m/360km)
Drive the bumpy road to Zuogong via Jueba Mountain, Lawu Mountain and the Dongda Mountain (5008). Then we'll pass Bangda, Yela Mountain and Duola Mountain down to the valleys and pastures to Baso.
Day 05 Baso-Rawoktso (3850m/168km)
Rawoktso Lake is a famous glacier lake on the plateau. Beside the lake, there are grasslands, forests, snow mountains and glaciers reflected in the lake with birds flying freely form a charming and harmonious world. After sigthseeing there, we'll visit the great Laigu (Loigu) Glaciers (composed of six ocean glaciers).
Note: If it is necessary to change to local vehicles to Laigu Glaicer as requested by the local government, the Clients shall bear the relevant fee.
Day 06 Rawoktso-Pomi (2700m/130km)
Today we'll have the most beautiful scenery of the Sichuan-Tibet sourthen route, and visit another famous glacier - Midui Glacier, about 100km from Pomi.
Day 07 Pomi - Bayi (2450m/235km)
Complete the last hard road in Tongmai and get to Sejila Mountain (4702m) from where you'll have a good view of Mt. Namche Barwa. Then we'll descend to Nyingchi in the Niyang River valley. It is about 19km from Nyingchi to Bayi and on the way, we'll pay a visit to the cypress tree, the King of World's cypress trees.
Day 08 Bayi-Basumtso Lake-Lhasa (3650m/410km)
Drive to Lhasa along the Niyang River and on the way, we'll visit the holy Basumtso Lake surrounded by high mountains. After cross Mila Mountain (5014m) in Dazi, we'll see the grand Potala Palace far away..
Day 09-10 Sightsee in Lhasa
Visit all main scenic spots in Lhasa in this two days: Potala Palace, Jokhang Temple and the bustling Barkhor Street around the temple, Drepung Monastery and Sera Monastery.
Day 11 Leave
This day we'll transfer you to the airport or train station. Your wonderful Yunnan-Tibet overland tour ends.
Tips: It is advised to take this Yunnan-Tibet overland tour in May, June, September and October when it is warm without much raining. And if there is more travel time, you can extend it by combining the tour easily with the classical Middle Tibet Tour or the wonderful Mt. Everest Tour for more experience in Tibet.
