Day 01 Arrive in Chengdu
Comfortable private airport transfer to your hotel in Chengdu, Capital of Sichuan Province.
Day 02 Sightsee in Chengdu
In the morning, we'll visit the Panda Research Center in the north of Chengdu City. And then we'll drive to the famous Shan'xindui Relics spot for the mysterious anchient Shu culture of Sichuan Province.
Day 03 Chengdu-Kangding-Xinduqiao (3300m/430km)
In the morning, we'll drive through the Cheng-Ya express way to Luding where there is the old Ludingqiao over the Dadu River. Then we'll get forward to Xinduqiao which is named as the 'Heaven for Photography'.
Day 04 Xinduqiao-Yajiang-Batang (2580m/401km)
Today we'll first cross the Gao'ersi mountain (4412m) where you could view the splendid sunrise of Mt. Gonggar (7556m) in distance. Then we'll pass the Yalung Valley, Jianziwan mountain, Kazila mountain to get to Litang (4000m) and visit the Chode Monastery there which is built for the third Dalai Lama. Before arrive in Batang beside the Jinsha River, we'll further pass the Maoya grassland, Haizi mountain (4700m), Jiemei (sister) Lake, Cuopu Valley and Cuolake Natural Reserve.
Notes: If you would like to visit the Cuopu Hot-spring Park or the Cuolake Natural Reserve, it will require another one to two days.
Day 05 Batang-Markham-Zuogong (3800m/275km)
After cross the Jinsha River and enjoy the natural scenery of the valley there, we'll be in the Tibet Autonomous Region. Markham will be the first town in Tibet in our Sichuan-Tibet tour and from there, we'll pass the Jueba mountain, Lawu mountain and Dongda mountain (5008m) to Zuogong. The road today is bumpy.
Day 06 Zuogong-Rawoktso Lake (3850m/291km)
Drive to the beautiful Rawoktso Lake via Bangda. On the way, we'll take the most zigzag roads of the journey cross the Yela mountain and Duola mountain and then down to the valleys and grassland.
Day 07 Sightsee at Rawoktso Lake
Rawoktso is a famous glacier lake on the plateau. The grassland, forest, snow mountains and glaciers are reflected in the lake with flocks of birds flying freely above the water face forming a charming and harmonious world. Close to Rwaoktso lake is the Laigu (loigu) village where you could see six ocean glaciers (altogether called Loigu Glaciers), which is unique not only in China but also in the world. Among those glaciers, Yalong Glacier might be the biggest one about 12km long.
Day 08 Rawok - Pomi (2750m/130km)
Today we'll be in the most beautiful part of the Sichuan-Tibet overland journey. On the way, we'll visit another famous glacier - Midui Glacier, about 100km from Pomi. It is chosen as one of the six most beautiful glaciers in China by the Chinese National Geography Magazine.
Day 09 Pomi - Bayi (2450m/235km)
Drive in the forest to Tongmai where there is a 15km bumpy road which is often destroyed by landslides in rainy seasons. After pass the Pailong village and Lulang Forest, we'll get to the Sejila Mountain (4702m) which is known for the wonderful azalea sea in spring and summer seasons and also a good place to view Mt. Namche Barwa. Descending from Sejila Mountain we'll get to Nyingchi in the valley of Niyang River's lower reaches. Bayi town is just 19km from Nyingchi. On the way, we'll pay a visit to the cypress tree which is known as the King of World's cypress trees.
Day 10 Bayi-Basumtso Lake-Lhasa (3650m/410km)
Drive to Lhasa along the Niyang River. On the way at the Bahe Bridge, we'll drive about 44km to the holy Basumtso Lake which is just like a jasper in the valley surrounded by high mountains. Then we'll get back to the Sichuan-Tibet highway and cross the Mila Mountain (5014m) to the Lhasa Valley. We could see the grand Potala Palace far away in Dazi..
Day 11-12 Sightsee in Lhasa
Our two-day sightseeing in Lhasa will cover all most important spots there: Potala Palace, Jokhang Temple and the bustling Barkhor Street around the temple, Drepung Monastery and Sera Monastery.
Day 13 Leave
This day we'll transfer you to the airport or train station. Your wonderful Sichan-Tibet overland tour ends.
Tips: It is advised to take this Sichuan-Tibet overland tour in May, June, September and October when it is warm without much raining. And if there is more travel time, you can extend it by combining with the classical Middle Tibet Tour or the wonderful Mt. Everest Tour.
