Itinerary (05nights/06days)

11 Feb 2010, Arrive in Lhasa

Your Tibetan English-speaking tour guide will expect you at Gonggar Airport with a comfortable private transfer to your hotel in Lhasa. Upon arrival, just take rest for high altitude acclimatization.

12 Feb 2010, Dancing Ceremony in Tsupu Monastery

Our wonderful Tibetan New Year Festival tour starts from Tsupu Monastery, the home monastery of Gagyu Order. This day there will be an important dancing ceremony at Tsupu Monastery for driving off evil spirits before the Tibetan New Year.

13 Feb 2010, Potala Palace and Local Tibetan Family

This morning we'll visit the Tibet cardinal landmark of Potala Palace and then a local Tibetan family to spend the Tibetan New Year eve with them.

14 Feb 2010, Drepung Monastery and Sera Monastery

Drepung Monastery and Sera Monastery are two great Gelugpa monasteries in Tibet. Drepung is about 8km west of central Lhasa and was once the world's largest monastery housing more than 10,000 monks (if we are lucky, we can enter into a dark columned hall quite easily to see and hear the lilting, booming, chanting of sutras). And Sera is about 5km north of central Lhasa where you may have the chance to see the interesting "Buddhism Scriptures Debating" between Lamas.

15 Feb 2010, Jokhang Temple and Barkhor Street

Visit the spiritual center of Tibetan Buddhism - Jokhang Temple and the bustling Barkhor Stree around the temple. At this old town area, you'll meet many local Tibetans in traditional clothes celebrating their new year festival..

16 Feb 2010, Leave Lhasa

The tour guide will transfer you to the airport or train station for the plane or train to your next destination. Your wonderful Tibetan New Year tour ends.
