Lhasa is the center of Tibetan culture and religion while Tsedang (Yarlung Valley) is regarded as the cradle of Tibetan civilization.
This tour helps you explore the Tibet's origins as well as the spectacular landscape in the Yarlugn Tsangpo Valley.
Itinerary (05nights/06 days)
Day 01 Arrive in Lhasa
The Tibetan tour guide will greet you with a white scarf (called Kada) in a Tibetan traditional way and transfer you to your hotel in Lhasa. Upon arrival, rest for high altitude acclimatization.
Day 02 Sightsee in Lhasa
Our first-day sightseeing in Lhasa will cover the most beautiful splendor in Tibet - Potala Palace, the spiritual center of Tibetan Buddhism - Jokhang Temple and the bustling Barkhor Street around the temple. And at evening, pay a visit to a local Tibetan family.
Day 03 Sightseeing in Lhasa
Today's highlights are two great Gelugpa Monasteries - Drepung and Sera. Drepung Monastery was once the largest monastery in the world housing more than 10,000 monks. If we are lucky, we can enter into a dark columned hall quiet easily to see and hear the lilting, booming, chanting of sutras. Sera Monastery is welknown for the interesting "Buddhism Scriptures Debating" between Lamas which is usually held on all week days.
Day 04 Lhasa – Samye Monastery
Drive about 220km to Tsedang and then take a ferry crossing the Yarlong Tsangpu River to Samye Monastery, the first Buddhist monastery in Tibet with the first floor in Tibetan style, the second in Han style and the third in Indian style.
Day 05 Sightseeing in Tsedang
Today we will visit the Trundruk Monastery and Yumbulakhang. Trundruk Monastery houses a precious Thangka picture of a Buddha inlaid of thousands of pearls and hundres of other gems. And Yumbulakhang is the first palace in tibet, a medieval-European-castle-like structure.
Day 06 Leave
The guide will transfer you to Gonggar Airport or train station and help you board the plane or train to your next destination. Your wonderful Tibet cultural tour ends.
