Day 01 Arrive in Lhasa
Accommodation: Standard 3-star Hotel
The Tibetan tour guide will meet you at the Lhasa Gonggar Airport and greet you with a white scarf (called Kada) in a Tibetan traditional way. Then transfer you to Lhasa City (100km's driving). On the way, you will see the big
Nietang Buddha engraved in a mountain wall. Upon arrival, just take rest for high altitude acclimatization.
Day 02 Sightsee in Lhasa
Accommodation: Standard 3-star Hotel [B]
We will start from the spiritual center of Tibetan Buddhism -
Jokhang Temple. Around the temple is the famous bustling
Barkhor Street where you can get a close touch with local Tibetans.
In the afternoon, we will visit the most beautiful splendor in Tibet -
Potala Palace, the symbol of Tibetan people's wisdom and power. Beside the numerous art pieces it stores, you can also have a bird-eye view of the whole Lhasa City and the undulating mountain ranges in distance.
And in the evening, pay a visit to a
Tibetan family.
Day 03 Lhasa - Gyantse - Shigatse
Accommodation: Standard 3-star Hotel [B]
The road to Gyantse is passable now. So this day in the fresh morning air, we'll drive about 270km to the historic town of Gyantse corsing the
Karo La Pass (5010m) and the
Khamba La Pass (4800m) with a beautiful panorama of the
Yamdrok Yumtso Lake on the way. Upon arrival, we'll visit the
Pelkhor Monastery and its superb
Kumbu Stupa, a stunning architectrual wonder in Tibet..Then we'll get forward to Shigatse, the second largest city in Tibet, strolling around the old town for the nicely decorated Tibetan houses and visiting the local interesting bazaar..
Day 04 Shigatse - Tingri
Accommodation: Guesthouse [B]
Drive about 250km to Tingri via
Gantsola Mountain Pass (5220m).
Day 05 Tingri-Mount Everest Base Camp-Tingri
Accommodation: Guesthouse [B]
In the early morning we will drive about 100km to the Ronbuk Monastery and the Mt. Everest Base Camp. Upon arrival, it's your life-long experience with the highest mountain in the world.. Then we'll get back to Tingri.
Day 06 Tingri-Shigatse
Accommodation: Standard 3-star Hotel [B]
Get back to Shigatse and relax there..
Day 07 Shigatse - Lhasa
Accommodation: Standard 3-star Hotel [B]
In the morning, we'll first visit the Tashilumpo Monastery in Shigatse and then drive back to Lhasa along the Yarlung Tsangpu River.
Day 08 Leave [B]
The guide will transfer you to Gonggar Airport and help you board the plane to your next destination. Your wonderful Tibet Himalayan tour ends.
Rates: Different for different travel seasons. Our winter offer is 625-898USD/p.p for a group of 2-4PAX travelling from Dec 2007 to Mar 2008.
