It is a classical culture exploration trip in Tibet offering some most impressive visions
of the high platuea such as snow-capped mountains, holy lake, splendid palaces and monasteries.
The mild weather in the central Tibet area makes the tour available all year round.
Itinerary (06 - 08 days)
Day 01 Arrive in Lhasa
Greet you with a white scarf in a Tibetan traditional way and transfer you to your hotel in Lhasa. On arrival, free to relax and acclimatize to the altitude.
Day 02 Sightsee in Lhasa
After breakfast, we'll meet you at your hotel and start our first-day sightseeing in Lhasa visiting the magnificent Potala Palace, the Jokhang Temple and the bustling Barkhor Street around the temple. And at evening, pay a visit to a local Tibetan family.
Day 03 Sightsee in Lhasa
Visit two great Gelugpa monasteries of Drepung and Sera. At Drepung Monastery, you could have a overall view of the valley.
Day 04 Lhasa - Gyantse
In the fresh morning air, we'll drive 270km to the famous historical town of Gyantse via the Karo La Pass (5010m) and the Khamba La Pass (4800m). On the way, take a short pleasant walk at the beautiful Yamdrok Yumtso Lake. And when arrival in Gyantse, visit the Pelkhor Monastery for its superb Kumbu Stupa, a stunning architectural wonder in Tibet.
Day 05 Gyantse - Shigatse
Drive 90km well-paved road to Shigatse, the second largest city in Tibet. We'll visit the foremost attraction there - Tashilumpo Monastery where you may also climb up the mountain behind the monastery for a bird-eye view of the city. Then we'll get down to the old town for its nicely decorated Tibetan houses, interesting market and bazaar.
Optional: If time is limited, we can drive back to Lhasa after sightseeing in Shigatse on this day and leave Tibet on Day 06.
Day 06 Shigatse-Lhasa
Drive along the Yarlung Tsangpu River to Lhasa. The rest time is free for you to explore the old city.
Day 07 Leave Lhasa
Today we'll drive you to the airport or the train station for the plane or train to your next destination. Your wonderful Tibet cultural tour ends.
Tips: We can also add a one-day tour to Samye Monastery in Tsedang for a more complete culture exploration in Tibet.
