Holy City and Holy Lake Tour
Highlights: Lhasa, Namtso Lake
This tour covers exploration of the holy city Lhasa and the holy lake of Namtso. It is a good choice when
you have very limited travel time in Tibet and would like to see the beautiful natural landscape
as much as possible. The lake is little bit far from Lhasa city (about 260km) so this tour costs similar to the culture
exploration trip of Lhasa - Gyantse - Shigatse. Please note
the Namtso Lake tour is usually not available in the winter seasons from Nov to Mar.
Itinerary (05nights/06 days)
Day 01 Arrive in Lhasa
Comfortable private transfer to your hotel in Lhasa and upon arrival, just take rest for high altitude acclimatization.
Day 02-03 Sightsee in Lhasa
Within this two days sightseeing in Lhasa, we'll complete most main places there including Potala Palace, Jokhang Temple, Barkhor Street, Drepung Monastery, Sera Monastery and a visit to a local Tibetan family, as well as getting used to the high altitude.
Day 04 Lhasa - Namtso Lake (4718m)
After breakfast, we will drive about 260KM to the sky lake of Namtso, one of the holy lakes in Tibet crossing the Tibetan Nomads' grassland. The beautiful lake is just like a big mirror reflecting the snow-capped Nyianchentangula (7162m) beside it. Today you can enjoy the glorious sunset over the lake..
Day 05 Namtso Lake – Lhasa
Appreciate the splendid early morning scenery of Namtso Lake and conduct a short excursion there. Usually you can ride yaks at the lake bank. And later in the morning or early in the afternoon, we'll drive back to Lhasa.
Day 06 Leave Lhasa
The tour guide will see you off at the airport or train station. Your wonderful Tibet holy city and lake tour ends.
Tips: The Namtso Lake tour can be completed within one or two days and can be combined with many other tours in Tibet.
