Sightseeing in Lhasa, Tibet Highlights: Lhasa, Potala Palace, Jokhang Temple, Drepung and Sera Monastery
Tibet is a land of mystery and surprise, Lhasa is the heart and soul of Tibet. Travel to Lhasa is a dream not only to many tourists but also to many local people in other places of Tibet. The holy city of Lhasa has a long history of more than 1300 years. This Lhasa exploration tour will lead you to all main scienic spots there including Potala Palace, Jokhang Temple, Drepung Monastery and Sera Monastery.

Itinerary I (03nights/04 days)

Day 01 Arrive in Lhasa

The Tibetan tour guide will be awaiting for you at the Gonggar Airport and greet you with a white scarf (called Kada) in a Tibet traditional way. Then transfer you to Lhasa City (100km's driving). On the way, you will see the big Nietang Buddha engraved in a mountain wall. Upon arrival, just take rest for high altitude acclimatization.

Tips: Take good rest after arrival in Lhasa and avoid strenuous activities such as running, walking fast, bathing on the first day. Please do not get cold before entering Tibet. In case you feel uncomfortable, we'll help you get the oxygen canisters / bags in Lhasa.

Day 02 Sightseeing in Lhasa

We may start our sightseeing in Lhasa from the most beautiful splendor in Tibet - Potala Palace, the symbol of Tibetan people's wisdom and power. Beside the numerous art pieces it stores, you can also have a bird-eye view of the whole Lhasa City here and the undulating mountain ranges in distance.
In the afternoon, we will visit the spiritual center of Tibetan Buddhism - Jokhang Temple. Around the temple is the famous bustling Barkhor Street where you could feel the unique Tibetan atmosphere is permeated here.
And in the evening, pay a visit to a Tibetan family for a close touch with local people.

Day 03 Sightseeing in Lhasa

Today we will visit the great Gelugpa monastery - Drepung Monastery about 8km west of central Lhasa. It was once the world's largest monastery housing more than 10,000 monks. If we are lucky, we can enter into a dark columned hall quiet easily to see and hear the lilting, booming, chanting of sutras.
In the afternoon, we will visit Sera Monastery, about 5km north of central Lhasa. Here you may see the interesting "Buddhism Scriptures Debating" between Lamas.

Day 04 Leave

If the time permits, we'll pay a visit to the summer palace of Dalai Lama - Norbulingka in the morning and then drive you to the airport. Your wonderful Tibet Lhasa exploration tour ends.

Day 01-Day 03, the same as the above

Day 04 Lhasa - Gandan Monastery - Lhasa
Drive 70km to Gandan Monastery for its extremely delicate murals and sculptures. On the way, you can enjoy the countryside views of the high plateau.

Lhasa - Trupu Monastery - Lhasa
Lhasa - Yamdrok Yumtso Lake - Lhasa

Day 05 Leave from Lhasa or Tsedang
